Another Feather in Royal Dornoch’s Cap June 13, 2022 ROYAL Dornoch Golf Club has been selected to host another high-profile international amateur golf event. The R&A has announced that the Highland club will welcome the tussle for the Vagliano and Junior Vagliano Trophies in 2023. Next month, from July 5-8, Royal Dornoch will see around 300 competitors taking part in The R&A Women’s and Men’s Senior Amateur Championships. The tournaments announced for next summer are also prestigious events on the calendar. The biennial Vagliano Trophy, and the Junior version, are contested by women’s and girls’ teams flying the flag for GB and Ireland and the Continent of Europe. Unveiling the amateur golf schedule for 2023 and 2024, Phil Anderton, Chief Development Officer at The R&A, said: “We want to reinforce The R&A’s amateur championships and international matches as pinnacle events in global elite amateur golf and attract the best players from across the world to compete. “It is fitting to have our championships hosted at some of the world’s finest venues over the next two years. “Continuing to stage some of our most notable amateur championships for both male and female players at the same time also allows us to showcase and promote the sport for all.” Neil Hampton, general manager at Royal Dornoch, has welcomed the news. “We are thrilled to be working once again with the team at The R&A and in selecting Royal Dornoch to host these matches we appreciate the recognition given to our Championship Course as being amongst the best in the world,” he said.
