Long Time Royal Dornoch Members Begin Their 72-Hole Charity Challenge

Husband and wife duo Gary and Debbie Bethune are taking full advantage of the long summer days at Dornoch. 

They have set themselves a 72-hole target, playing 36 holes on the Championship Course, 18 on the Struie and 18 at Skibo, to raise money for deserving causes. 

Club captain Willie MacKay set his alarm to see them on their way from the first tee on the Championship Course at 4am today! 

The Royal Dornoch couple are supporting a friend who lost a son to suicide. 

He is walking from Land’s End to John O’Groats and the Bethunes are determined their own charity challenge will help The Canmore Trust and the club captains’ chosen charities Sight Action and Maggie’s Highland, along with Motor Neurone Disease Scotland. 

Before smashing their opening drives down the first fairway in perfect conditions the couple had secured pledges of more than £4000 – double their initial target.
