CYBER ATTACK DELAYING RETAIL ORDERS

THE cyber-attack crippling Royal Mail has had a knock-on impact on businesses up and down the country.

Sadly, Royal Dornoch Golf Club has not been immune from the problems afflicting the organisation’s ability to deliver overseas mail and parcels.

Retail manager Brad Smith has cautioned that members who live abroad may have to be patient to secure items ordered through the club’s pro shop.

“The issues affecting Royal Mail come hard on the heels of the backlog created by strike action in the countdown to Christmas,” he noted.

“We are aware that many orders which were dispatched well in advance of the Festive Season have yet to arrive at their destination.

“It’s very unfortunate but, sadly, beyond our control.

“Hopefully Royal Mail will be able to address the criminal cyber-attack which has clogged up the system sooner rather than later, although businesses across the UK are monitoring the situation.

“Like so many businesses, last year we faced challenges with our supply chain.

“It is frustrating that some members and non-members who made orders in December are still awaiting delivery.

“The circumstances are beyond our control but, nonetheless, it is regrettable that orders heading overseas have been subject to delays.

“Rest assured, we are doing all in our power to ensure orders coming in reach their destinations as quickly as possible.”
