Gary, accompanied by his wife Debbie, has been representing the club at celebrations held by the combined clubs of Royal Auckland and The Grange.

The Auckland club was created 130 years ago, with the Royal title added by Queen Elizabeth II in 2010.

Twelve months later Royal Auckland merged with The Grange Golf Club, which is marking its centenary.

In 2019 a Jack Nicklaus designed course opened and a new clubhouse followed hard on its heels.

Royal Dornoch accepted the invitation extended to Royal clubs to join the celebrations, which included a weekend of competitive golf, a cocktail party and a celebratory dinner.

Gary said: “It was a pleasure to join Royal Wimbledon from the UK and Royal clubs from Hong Kong, Singapore, New Zealand and Australia to celebrate the anniversaries.

“I was delighted to present my fellow club captain Craig Sinclair with an engraved Quaich on behalf of everyone at Royal Dornoch Golf Club.”
