LADIES’ WELCOME TO TEE-UP AT ROYAL DORNOCH
ROYAL Dornoch Golf Club has unveiled its 2025 calendar featuring a string of popular events open to female golfers from across the UK and beyond.
Entries are being accepted from Monday (February 24) for the Three Lady Team event over the Championship Course on May 17 and the Ladies Stableford Open on the Struie Course the following day.
The Open competitions offer scratch and handicap players an opportunity to savour one of the world’s finest links courses, which will host the Curtis Cup in 2028, for just £60.
Lady Captain Rosemary Muschamp anticipates even greater interest in this year’s Opens after the club was awarded the match which pits the cream of amateur talent in GB&I against America’s best female golfers.
“The Open events provide a fantastic opportunity to enjoy our Championship and Struie Courses,” she said. “Visitors are warmly welcomed, and the courses are always beautifully presented by our greenkeeping team.”
Last year, 2024 USGA Curtis Cup captain Meghan Stasi, from Fort Lauderdale, captured the Ladies Open title during a trip to Royal Dornoch, where husband Danny is a member.
This year’s Ladies Open is being held on June 28 and the £60 entry fee includes a complimentary round on the Struie Course on the Friday or Sunday morning. Entries are being accepted online from April 7.
“Meghan has an incredible record, with four USGA championships to her name. Now she has added a Royal Dornoch title to her list of honours!” said Rosemary.
“I’m sure Meghan will be sounded out for insights by the American team before the 2028 competition.
“News that the Curtis Cup is coming here in three years’ time will probably encourage even more entries to our Open competitions.
“While the Championship Course is always rated highly in any of the world rankings, the Struie is also a lovely golf course and well worth playing on any visit.
“Our season gets under way on March 15 with a Medal on the Struie.
“We have around 40 members regularly playing Medals and we are also welcoming youngsters from the club’s successful Junior development programme.
“We arrange matches where eight girls play with members and have lunch at the clubhouse.
“Hopefully it provides a stepping stone and encourages them to join us.”
