SUPPORTING THE HIGHLAND TIGER 

August 8 marks “Scottish Wildcat Day.” 

It’s not just apparel and souvenirs which feature the wildcat. 

This summer, golfers have been admiring the crest which features on the new clubhouse taking shape by the first tee of the Championship Course. 

The wildcat has been central to the coat of arms of the Earls of Sutherland for centuries. 

In recent years, the club has been supporting measures designed to reintroduce the “Highland Tiger” to the wild, with around £12,000 already donated to the Saving Wildcats charity through a percentage of sales of members-only clothing. 

General manager Neil Hampton said: “We are delighted to mark Scottish Wildcat Day and support measures which have seen wildcats bred in captivity being released into Cairngorm terrain by the breeding for release centre at the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland’s Highland Wildlife Park near Aviemore.”
