SKY SPORTS’ ANDREW’S RYDER CUP DREAM 

WHICH European venue in your lifetime do you hope will host a Ryder Cup? 

That was the question posed to Sky Sports commentator Andrew Coltart during a segment of the US based Golf Channel’s “5 Club” golf show and podcast. 

After dissecting Team Europe’s nerve-tingling victory at Bethpage, which was marked by drink-fueled boorish behaviour from some of the New York fans, host Gary Williams moved into a lighthearted quick-fire question and answer routine with the popular pundit and one-time Ryder Cup team member. 

Everything from his favourite soup and shoes – Mulligatawny and old school metal-spiked FootJoy’s, as you asked – featured among answers on theshow, which also airs on the SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio channel. 

But the response which will delight Royal Dornoch members came when proud Scot Andrew was asked to name the course he’d most like to see welcome a future Ryder Cup. 

After a brief moment pondering the options, proud Scot Andrew declared: “Royal Dornoch.” 

While both parties agreed this “little town” wouldn’t be able to handle the accommodation and infrastructure demands of the biennial match-upbetween Europe and the USA, the proud Scot said: “I’d love to see them deal with that golf course.”  

It certainly struck a chord with host Gary. 

“If I can have my room at Links House sign me up,” he enthused. 

“That’s the Holy Land right there. That’s a good call.” 

The 2028 Curtis Cup is coming to Dornoch and, given the widely welcomed investment in hotels and other accommodation in the area, it’s hoped thatone day the Walker Cup will be played on the famous Championship Course. 

As for The Ryder Cup? We can but dream!
