GOLF HIGHLAND PHOTO CONTEST CAPTURES THE SPIRIT OF THE HIGHLANDS
THE inaugural Golf Highland Photography Competition has proved a smashhit.
Club members and staff joined dozens of visitors filing stunning images which captured the beauty of courses throughout the region.
The wealth of fabulous photographs provided judges with a collective headache before they settled on three category winners.
They were:
Best Scenic Golf Course (£100 and a fourball at Royal Dornoch) – Richard Ewan’s “Early Morning Dew” at The Nairn Golf Club
Best Image of Golfers at Play (£100 and a fourball at Royal Dornoch) – MattPawsey’s “Chasing Birdies at Sunset” at Grantown-on Spey
Best Nature or Environmental Feature on the Golf Course (£100 and a fourball at Cabot Highlands) – Chris MacInnes’ “Star Trails and Aurora” at Cabot Highlands
Highly commended (fourball at Nairn) – Alan Martin’s “Extra High Tide” at Tain Golf Club.
Golf Highland chair Neil Hampton, general manager at Royal Dornoch, thanked everyone who entered the competition.
“We didn’t know what to expect when we launched the competition at the start of the season. We were in uncharted territory,” he admitted.
“But we have been bowled over by the volume and sheer quality of the photographs.
“We wanted amateur photographers to capture images which showed off the fabulous scenery and natural environment our courses are famed for – and they didn’t let us down.
“Entries featured the full gamut of Golf Highland courses, from our wonderful High 9s to the ‘bucket list’ links which are famed around the globe.
“Golf Highland is grateful for the support we enjoyed from Royal Dornoch, Cabot Highlands and The Nairn Golf Club, and thanks are due to judges Shona Rankin, Allan Minto, Sandy McCook and Gordon Bannerman for rising to the challenge of deciding our category winners.
“Many thanks to everyone who entered and made life difficult for our panel.
“We are keen to build on the success of the inaugural competition so look out for news of the 2026 follow-up.”
