CARNEGIE SHIELD DEADLINE LOOMING 

ENTRIES have been flooding in for the famous Carnegie Shield. 

Royal Dornoch general manager Neil Hampton has confirmed there will be a ballot before the club can announce the 270 names who will be teeing-up over the Championship Course in August. 

There is still time to get your name in the frame, with the closing date looming on Thursday, February 26. 

Neil revealed more than 300 entries have already been received for the week-long event which runs from August 9-15. 

“As anticipated, the lure of the Shield is undiminished. This will be the 112th playing for one of the most instantly recognisable trophies in amateur golf,” he said. 

“Anyone who is still keen to secure one of the places for this year’s tournament should make sure they get their entry forms in for the ballot by next Friday.  

“Shield week is the highlight of the club calendar and in addition to highly competitive golf featuring contenders drawn from far beyond the Highlands, there is always a vibrant social scene in the clubhouse and in the town.”
