ANOTHER FEATHER IN ROYAL DORNOCH’S CAP

ROYAL Dornoch’s Championship Course has again been rated among the best in the world. 

Golfweek’s 2026 “Top 100 International Courses outside of the USA” rankings sees our gem listed at number three. 

The top 10 is led by Royal County Down and The Old Course at St Andrews, with the Championship Course edging up from fourth spot last year. 

Tucked in behind the Championship Course are Muirfield, Royal Melbourne (West), Royal Portrush (Dunluce), Tara Iti in New Zealand, Hirono in Japan, Shanqin Bay in China and Cabot Saint Lucia (Point Hardy).  

Other Scottish courses in the Golfweek rankings are Trump Turnberry (Ailsa), North Berwick (West Links), Carnoustie (Championship), Kingsbarns, Trump International Scotland (Old), Cruden Bay, Royal Troon (Old), Ardfin, Loch Lomond, our near neighbours at Cabot Highlands (Castle Stuart), Trump International Scotland (New), Royal Aberdeen (Balgownie), Machrihanish, Prestwick, Western Gailes and the Renaissance Club. 

The Florida based magazine’s course ratings panel consists of hundreds of golfers who are continually assessing courses worldwide.

“The Golfweek rankings focus on the golf courses themselves rather than other amenities. 

“So while our new clubhouse will add to the visitor experience this season, we are well aware the Championship Course is what lures golfers from around the world to the Scottish Highlands and our greenkeeping team sets high standards years after year.”
