PROMOTING THE CLUB, COURSE, TOWN AND THE HIGHLANDS

GENERAL manager Neil Hampton has been finding himself in demand for podcasts on both sides of the Atlantic.

After 16 years in the role, journalists, writers and bloggers know he’s the man to turn to for all things Royal Dornoch.

And the opening of our new clubhouse, and the tie-up with King Collins Dormer to create a third course, has been creating quite a stir.

Hard on the heels of a return to the popular Scotland Where Golf Began 1457 Podcast, Neil has been promoting the golf club, town and wider Highlands area in conversation with Frank Forster for the Radio Golfschau podcast.

Luckily it was conducted in English as Neil’s command of German in rather limited!

“It’s nice that so many people in the world of golf are interested in what we are up to at Royal Dornoch, as well as looking back at our wonderful history,” said Neil.

“Naturally, part of the job here is to promote Royal Dornoch and the town. Fortunately, we have plenty to talk about on both counts and podcasts provide yet another opportunity to spread the gospel.”

In his latest podcast, Neil touches upon the ambitious plans for the Struie, a new course and world-class practice facilities – and the need to provide as many options as possible for golfers visiting the Highlands as a golfing destination.

Neil is quizzed by the host on the joys of links golf – “it’s the best way to play the game” – the influence of Royal Dornoch on contemporary golf course architecture, the club’s ambitions to host the Walker Cup one day, the commitment to junior golf and, of course, our new clubhouse.
