PLAUDITS FOR ROYAL DORNOCH AFTER HOSTING TOUR EVENT

ROYAL Dornoch was delighted to host a stage of the Golfbreaks Scottish Women’s Amateur Tour.

The brainchild of former Scots European Tour professional Alan Tait, it is now in its third year and going from strength to strength.

A full field enjoyed bright, clear conditions and a steady wind for rounds over the Championship Course and the Struie.

Historically, Royal Dornoch is a club which has always welcomed women golfers and in recent years the Junior Section has encouraged many young local girls to take up the game.

General manager Neil Hampton said the club was delighted to continue its support for Alan’s innovative strategy to support women’s golf at the national level.

“We were one of the first clubs in Scotland to sign the Women’s Golf Charter and one of our biggest fundamentals here at Royal Dornoch is supporting the game of golf,” Neil noted.

He congratulated Alan for his initiative and welcomed the Tour’s growth and influential role in growing the game.

Competitors certainly welcomed the opportunity to tee-up at a “phenomenal” and “historic” course.

Alan said: “Royal Dornoch have been amazing supporters of the Golfbreaks Scottish Women’s Amateur Tour. It is a fantastic venue for us. We are so, so privileged and the women know how special this is.

“It was a reminder of how well Royal Dornoch works as a venue for tournament golf.”

The Tour reaches a climax at Dumbarnie Links in October.
