BIG APPLE BASED MAGAZINE HAILS THE CHAMPIONSHIP COURSE October 24, 2023 ROYAL Dornoch is no stranger to being name-checked in prestigious golf magazine rankings. Now the latest listings unveiled for 2023 by New York based Golf.com sees the Championship Course moving up two places to 10th. General manager Neil Hampton said: “It’s great to see Royal Dornoch rubbing shoulders with some of the world’s most famous courses. “We are certainly in great company. Many of the courses listed have hosted Majors.” Golf Magazine’s “World Top 100” is topped again by Pine Valley, Cypress Point and the Old Course at St Andrews. Shinnecock Hills figures at number 4, with NGLA at 5. Royal County Down, in Northern Ireland, is followed by Australian classic Royal Melbourne before Oakmont and Augusta claim spots 8 and 9. Neil said: “We are delighted with the reaction to changes which have been made to holes 7 and 8 to future-proof the Championship Course. “The latter came into play this year and was opened officially on the date of the 75th anniversary of holes 6 to 11, which were introduced in the wake of the Second World War. “We are delighted that the work of our greenkeeping team working in tandem with course architects Mackenzie and Ebert is being recognised by various magazine panellists.” Many thanks to David Jones (UK Golf Guy) for producing the complete list below.
